Catching Fire may have some signifigant changes in the script writing department coming. New director, Francis Lawrence and the studio is in talks with Michael Arndt to re-write the script for “Catching Fire.”

We know he has talent. He earned an Oscar for his previous work “Little Miss Sunshine” and penned Toy Story 3. But even with his credentials we have to wonder if this is a smart move. With the plans for a late Summer production schedule would there be enough time to do this. Simon Beaufoy has already written the initial drafts of the script for the second installment of Suzanne Collin’s bestselling novels. Do you think this is a smart move?

We didn’t think Josh Wedon could make us love him more. How wrong we were. Here’s what he had to say at a women’s rights event last night about what Hunger Game’s Katniss is doing for strong female characters in the film industry.

“I think they’ve been peripheral for a long time, and I think The Hunger Games is about to change that in a big way,” he told THR. “I really like it, it’s my kind of thing. And more important, I like what it’s doing, which is millions.”

And as the writer of Buffy, this man knows all about strong female characters.

Francis Lawrence, best known for his work in I Am Legend has been formally offered the role of director for Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire.

There were plenty of great contenders on the list like Miller and Inarritu, but in the end he fit the bill(and Lionsgate’s fall production schedule) the best. Water for Elephants was a great book to film adaptation. We’ve seen him work drama, action, and sci-fi. I think he’ll be a great fit.

Personally, the fact that he’s done work that I’ve enjoyed, including Constantine and I Am Legend, makes me feel good about this decision. He has experience with the genre. I just hope the fandom stays positive and realize this can take the franchise to new heights.

How do you feel about him?

Most fans were pleased when director Gary Ross made it clear anybody from the Twilight Saga wouldn’t be involved in his adaptation of The Hunger Games. But with Gary gone could the casting net end up being cast a little wider? Kellan Lutz, known for his role as Emmet in Twilight, made these remarks recently:

“I love the script, I love the movie, everything about it!” Lutz gushed to us last night at Us Weekly‘s Hot Hollywood bash at Greystone Manor in West Hollywood.

Lutz said he’s “always been” a fan of the franchise. “I got hooked reading all those books,” he said. “I remember before they ever started making a movie, I was like, “I would love to be a part of this!'”

Maybe Lutz could snag a part alongside Jennifer LawrenceJosh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth in the Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire? “That’d be really special,” he smiled.

Our question is who would he even play? Because he ain’t no Finnick.
